bad day to be a scar

Renew · Repair · Restore

The first RNA-based
scar-appearance patch.

A dissolvable micro-tip patch that delivers a small interfering RNA nanoplex in hyaluronic acid directly into healing tissue — designed to improve the look of scars rather than simply cover them. Steroid-free, painless, worn overnight.

Distributed in the United States. Patents filed in the USA, Singapore and China.

Mechanism

More than surface coverage

Raised scars are associated with fibroblast overactivity during skin remodelling. BioRNA loads a small interfering RNA nanoplex into hyaluronic-acid micro-tips. On application the tips dissolve within the uppermost skin layers and release their cosmetic ingredients where remodelling is taking place.

Comparison as presented in manufacturer clinical materials. Efficacy figures derive from a 50-patient study with measurements taken by high-resolution 3D scanner. Manufacturer materials report 83% durability at 16.1 months in the clinician deck and 85% in consumer materials; the higher figure is not used here.

For patients

Four weeks of nights

BioRNA is worn while you sleep. There is no gel to reapply, no clinic visit, and nothing to feel during application. Some people see results in as quickly as a week, though the studied course runs 4–8 weeks.

01

Cleanse and dry

Begin only after wound closure or stitch removal. Skin must be clean and completely dry. Do not use on an open wound.

02

Apply before bed

Place the micro-tip section over the scar and hold gentle, constant pressure for 30 seconds.

03

Wear overnight

Leave in place 8–12 hours. Micro-tips dissolve and transfer the RNA–hyaluronic acid complex into the scar tissue.

04

Replace daily

One new patch each day for 4–8 weeks. Longer scars can be covered by cutting patches to size with clean scissors.

Where it is used

Post-surgical scars
Chest, abdominal and limb incisions following closure or suture removal.
C-section scars
Reported improvement in the appearance of colour, height and pliability over 4–6 weeks of nightly use.
Hypertrophic scars
Raised, thickened scars — including cases where silicone sheeting made little visible difference.
Keloids
Softer, flatter appearance reported in scars up to 10 months old in supplied case series.

In patients' words

I can touch it comfortably. No discomfort. It doesn't pull like it did before as I move.
Hypertrophic scar, day 14
More like my regular skin tone, less raised, smaller width.
Keloid, day 0 vs day 7
I actually feel my scar getting flatter.
C-section scar, week 4

Questions

Before you begin

Does it hurt?
No. The micro-tips are shorter than the depth required to reach pain receptors, and patients in the supplied case reports describe application as painless.
When can I start?
After the wound is fully closed or your stitches have been removed. BioRNA must not be applied to an open wound.
How long until I see a change?
Some people see visible change in as quickly as a week — case reports document reduced redness, height and width by day 7. The studied course is 4–8 weeks of nightly use.
Are steroids involved?
No. BioRNA is steroid-free. It uses a small interfering RNA nanoplex carried in a dissolvable hyaluronic-acid micro-tip array.
